The world brings certain people together in mysterious ways. This barrel pick was never supposed to happen. Ylli and Long were we’ll on their way to ORD from SDF, where they circled ORD for an hour before having to fly back to SDF because the airport was shutdown due to insufferable storms. They landed and called Robert to pick them up to join him in flying out of CVG. Robert just happened to be meeting with NULU, a brand that Ylli knew all too well. Fast forward- Ylli and Long met Chase (barrel merchant) and Jordan (barrel flavor enforcement officer). The gents at NULU were very excited to showcase many barrels, and thus the tasting began. Many barrels were sampled that day but there were two that shined above the rest, this toasted honey straight bourbon being one of them.

The time and care that went into crafting the barrel was apparent. Talk about sexying up a cask but keeping it still pure bourbon, this is it. When Ylli and Long both took their first sip, they deeply gazed into each other’s eyes with the look that couldn’t be mistaken for anything but; what the f**k is this. Needless to say, they did not want to dump their glasses. Thus came Allocated's first straight bourbon pick. Be careful, as you may open it once with friends and end up with an empty bottle at the end of the hour.
