KY TRIP UPDATE
Well, we did it. Ylli and Long came back from KY picking a whopping 11 casks. If we were to rank them, it would be a very tough task. There’s literally something for everyone. We heard you loud and clear after the extinction of The Figgy Piggy. A finished product unlike the rest, and we stumbled upon a banger at Dark Arts. We really didn’t mean to head there thinking we were doing a cask, but one just really blew our pants off. A 95/5 rye done in Calvados casks. Fruit juice incoming.
From the major houses, we have 2x Russell’s (both 10yr Russ Reserves), 2x Wilderness Trail (wheated bourbon and barely legal rye), 2x Heaven Hill (EC for a new series and a Larceny that we promise you will beat out every Larceny you have on your shelf), 1x Bardstown Bourbon Company (single barrel bourb) and finally 1x Jack Daniel’s Rye (Coy Hill? No. Tanyard Hill? Yes.).
Of course, those on social media will see that we did the first-of-first blend with Blue Run as well. This blend will definitely break the market. We won’t share too much details yet, but let’s just say it’s a blend of two mashbills that J.Rutledge distilled for Blue Run that has never been released in market. Not your typical mashbill either…stay tuned.
Fiori turns 30 this year, so to commemorate that, outside of the Maker’s Mark bottling, there will also be a J.Mattingly blend that was cuveed up when we were down in KY as well. It’s a light whiskey. Get your kleenex ready.
