Behind The Bottle

With the unfortunate news that Lux Row is no longer offering the Ezra Full Proof expression as a barrel select, we knew we had to come up with something in that vein—a true sweet bomb—to fill the void and cover all our bases.

Enter WhistlePig. Love it or hate it, our barrel pick is one that demands your attention. For those who enjoy the rich, decadent profiles of Woodford Double Oak and Old Forester 1910, Ylli and Long sought out a barrel that would replicate that profile. A quintessential barrel select that is bursting with sweet butterscotch and toasted caramelized oak.

WhistlePig’s classic PiggyBack Bourbon, if you haven’t tried it before, leans heavily on its corn-forward mash bill, resulting in an inherently sweet profile with little to no rye spice influence. Truth be told, Ylli and Long can’t recall the last time they had it—at least, not until last year. During a conversation with the WhistlePig team about the brand’s future at ALCTD, they found themselves encouraged (or maybe persuaded) to take a shot at the bar. After knocking it back, Long simply said, “Damn, that’s smoof.”

Smoof indeed. If you’re looking for an easy-drinking, ultra-smoof, and irresistibly sweet bourbon, look no further. This is, without a doubt, the smoofest and sweetest barrel select bourbon ALCTD currently has to offer.
