Behind The Bottle

The One That Got Away. Yeah... she really was.

Let’s roll it back to 2022. Fiori hosted a barrel pick dinner with Pablo from Rare Character. The crowd tasted a few samples and got to vote on which one would get the final rose and end up in bottles. The winner? A White Port finished Bourbon. Solid pick.

But Long? He was rooting for the Oloroso-finished Bourbon. That was his jam. Alas, the crowd said no. She slipped away.

Jump to 2024- RC Barrel Pick Dinner: Part Deux. This time, it was a blind tasting. Four mystery pours lined up in front of the crowd, with Long live-blinding Pablo (comedy show at its best).

The results:

  • FDI picked an Armagnac-finished Bourbon
  • Alaska got two: Toasted Rye (AK Pick #4) and Kentucky Bourbon (AK Pick #3)
  • And hiding in that flight? The Oloroso finished Bourbon.

Only the Scotchbois voted for it. To quote Long during the tasting: “Y’all a bunch of basic bitches.”

So, we made it personal. The mission: get an Oloroso-finished Bourbon into the market. Three years later, it’s finally here- as part of the ALCTD Japanese Series.

Come see what a Scotch lover’s bourbon really tastes like.
