BEHIND THE BOTTLE

The Whiskey without Regrets. Isn’t that the truth?

With the spectacular launch of Bardstown Bourbon Company and Green River’s whiskies in our state, it was a no brainer that we needed to do a pick with one of the largest and most reputable contract distilling companies out in Kentucky. As we know, those NDPs (non-distilling producers) who use Green River as a source for their juice shouts it loud and proud. Everyone knows the quality, and it goes from being good to being exceptionally great when you look at whiskies in the same price point.

There’s a bit of drama behind this pick, in the sense that Ylli was on holiday, so he wasn’t involved, so it was predominately up to Chris and Long to really nail the pick down. After our three day process of sampling, Chris and Long were at an impasse. Long’s #1 was different than Chris’. Mind you, both of them going in with the mindset of picking for the market. The key argument was really about of what people wanted in a bourbon. A great nose or a great palate. Chris ended up winning with the backup of Doug and Tony’s aide, mentioning to Long that not everyone smells their whiskey for hours on end before drinking it.

This has been showcased at our Green River tasting and at a few tasting events within the last few days before it’s release date. All of those who have tried it say the same thing- ‘how in the hell is this 126PR?’ Fun fact, this was a barrel in Rickhouse G. Per Caryn Wells, Green River’s National Brand Ambassador, Rickhouse G is where all the honey barrels lie. So if you want high octane, sweet and smoof as all heck, this is your bottle.

Be careful with this bottle, as if you don’t take into account the ABV of this bottle and drink irresponsibly, you may end up in a van, Down by the River.
