BEHIND THE BOTTLE

Finally, the picks from ALCTD’s 2025 KY trip are finally rolling in!

Yes, this has a 2025 barrel code, but year-end inventory counts delayed its release. Good juice should never be rushed to market anyways!

If it isn’t prevalent by now, the ALCTD team loves them some high rye bourbons. The multi-case use is endless. Plus, they already have some other sweet and smoof barrel picks coming down the line, so keep an eye out for that.

Bardstown Bourbon Company’s (BBC) story is a wild one. Long story short, it was founded by a very wealthy individual with an idea that he wanted to create a distillery so that anyone can make their own whiskey via contract distilling (brand or individual). With a focus on transparency and efficiency, this is what really sets BBC apart. This is also why the crew at ALCTD loves them. High quality bourbon at the right price.

Speaking about the pick itself, the crew had an agenda going in- find a high rye that was multifaceted to be able to be delicious by itself for the punchy high rye drinkers, but also be balanced enough to play in any and all cocktails. This led to the team having a control glass of the classic BBC Bourbon in front of them while comparing all of the cask strengths.

The decision was unanimous, as everyone knew that this expression embodied what they wanted. Something sweet in the forefront, but being just the right amount of punchy in the backend. This expression really showcases what a true Kentucky high rye bourbon is all about.
