The Figgy Piggy
The Figgy Piggy
Want to talk about true cask curation- not just slapping a “single barrel select” label on anything? Look no further.
The Figgy Piggy was inspired by WhistlePig’s Boss Hog IX: Siren Song. At the time, it was Ylli’s favorite Boss Hog expression, so he and Long made it their mission to replicate that profile.
From working with their friends at Good Times to season a cask with fig brandy to hand-selecting the perfect rye to go into the barrel, the curation didn’t stop there. As the whiskey finished, the team received multiple samples, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to pull the plug for bottling.
Knowing that some finished spirits can be overdone, they made sure this wouldn’t be one of them. That’s why they chose a true rye rather than a sweeter, softer one. It’s also why they repeatedly sampled from the finishing barrel- ensuring that when the time came, it was right.
On ALCTD’s last trip to Kentucky, a short detour led them to check on the cask. At around five months in, it was so close. They had the team at Good Times pull the plug at exactly six months- and it was absolutely the right call.
That’s all, folks. Come in and see for yourself if ALCTD’s replica of Siren Song truly lives up to the name.
