BEHIND THE BOTTLE
What a happy surprise.
A few years back, we selected this Remus barrel, which our distributor promptly swallowed up into the abyss of their Washington state warehouse. After they supposedly unearthed our "Lost Barrel" recently, we demanded a sample before committing. After all, it had been years.
The verdict? Exceptionally delicious, perfectly priced, and absolutely worth their accidental cellaring program.
EDITOR’S NOTES: Ylli didn’t have a whole lot to say about this one, mostly because this pick was made "B.A." (Before Allocated) and his memory is a bit hazy.
The story of how this unfolded is honestly hilarious. Out of nowhere, our distributor reached out with a casual, "Hey, we have your barrel." We were completely baffled. Three years later and we’re just hearing about this now? Ylli fondly recalled tasting some incredible Remus back then, but the memory of actually buying the damn barrel had completely vanished.
Regardless, the juice spoke for itself. Because the distributor had been storing it in glass for three years and we had zero paper trail holding us to it, we had some serious leverage. We managed to negotiate the price down to an absurd $45 a bottle- a pick that regularly retails for $70.
In the words of Mr. Theo B.: "You can’t buy a better $45 store pick in the state right now."
It is a lights-out, ultimate bang-for-your-buck bottle. Grab one before it disappears again.
