Why buy two single barrels of the exact same product at the exact same proof? Different case uses.

While both of these are easily able to be sipped on neat, they really showcase two different flavors of rye whiskey. Even though every drop of Rittenhouse starts with the same mashbill, a single barrel is a living, breathing thing. How it interacts with the oak changes its destiny.

Two sides of the same iconic coin:

Barrel 1 - The Yang (A rye drinker’s rye)

The Yang is an absolute rye drinker’s rye. With an encapsulating nose of hibiscus green tea and a palate that showcases more of the sweet spice, oak tannins with a subtle peppery finish. The Yang delivers a complex dram.  

Barrel 2 - The Yin (A mixer above all else)

In contrast, The Yin is significantly more subtle. Mint and dill takes center stage. However, with the softness of the sweeter mid-palate and lighter finish, this begs to elevate any Manhattan, Sazerac or Old Fashioned. With quintessential minty, mentholy, nutmeg notes all throughout, this bottle has less of the pepper.
