BEHIND THE BOTTLE
The lowest yield from a barrel select to date. 42 whopping bottles. The angel’s really must be having a laugh…
This was one of the simplest barrel picks the team has done to date. This sample was introduced to Ylli and Long while they got word Rare Character had some old light whiskey. Old light whiskey? No brainer.
This was picked at the same time the Fiori D’Italia 30th Anniversary Bottling was picked. However, while it made sense to save the true ‘old dusty’ to celebrate 30 years in operations, Allocated had to pick this specific barrel to end off the ‘Japanese Trilogy’ series. Little did the team know the yield of this barrel was going to be abysmal.
This barrel select is what the ALCTD crew believes light whiskey is to a tee. Sweet, high octane, no frills airy vanilla. They joke about the aspartame tasting note, but those of you who can acquire this bottle will truly understand where that tasting note came from.
A quick disclosure as the headline readers may be quick to scroll down to read this bottle is SOLD OUT as ALCTD just announced this bottle’s release- that is indeed the truth. The team regretfully had to make a decision to only hand-sell these bottles to those who’ve purchased the last two Japanese Trilogy bottles. With such a low yield on the barrel, this made the most sense after discussing how to manage such a limited release.
As Long states in the shop all the time, “the Allocated Mafia is based on relationships and we hope the general public understands that we have to take care of those who take care of us.”
