The Hot One
The Hot One
2016 - Westland Distillery based out of Seattle, WA releases the first ever whiskey done in Tabasco casks, coined Inferno, as an April Fools joke.
2018 - George Dickel Distillery based out of Tullahoma, TN releases ‘Hot Dickel’ because the parent company Diageo just wanted to see if Fireball without any artificial flavoring would be a hit in the market.
2025 - Allocated Bottle Shop based out of Anchorage, AK releases The Hot One, a single malt that was refilled in Westland’s Inferno to the general public to showcase that a cask sometimes just needs to be used and abused a bit before showing its true potential.
Three different years and three different iterations of Tabasco cask finished whiskies. One is actually drinkable and only one showcases what fire whiskey really is.
This cask was hilariously selected nearly as a joke…until it wasn’t.
This cask was picked in the same trip that the gents from ALCTD visited Westland when picking The East Meets West cask. It was a two day tour, where the first day was all business in picking the second American Single Malt to be given the rose to be on the shelves at Allocated. Day two, absolutely just trying fun and experimental stuff out of Westland’s rickhouses.
The story on this pick may be a bit too long for the bottle info page, so read about it HERE.
Long story short- the team wanted weird, wild and exciting. The Hot One was born.
