BARREL DROPS

Those of you who have followed up on socials know we’ve been releasing some things without the text/email/Loyalzoo blast recently. It’s because we try to only bug ya once a month. Our Russell’s are offically under 48btls for each expression, so if you loved em, this is your time to pick up your spare or forever hold your peace.

The new Russell’s line we are doing deserves a segment of it’s own so read below if you’re curious.

THE RESERVES COLLECTION

With the start of our series for Russell’s, we really need to take a step back and explain the beauty of it all and why we want to do this.

In the whiskey world, the recipe is only half the magic; the rest belongs to the wood and the environment. That’s the premise behind our new series with Russell’s The Reserves Collection, an exclusive series curated by us at Allocated.

Diving into the legendary rickhouses of Wild Turkey, we set out to tell the story about the liquid. No better brand to showcase this than one of our shop’s favorite brands. how the exact same spirit can take on entirely different lives depending on where it rests.

To understand the magnitude of this release, you have to look back to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and the legacy of the family behind the liquid. For seventy years, Jimmy Russell (widely revered as the "Buddha of Bourbon") has stubbornly done things the old-fashioned way. In 1998, his son, co-Master Distiller Eddie Russell, created the Russell’s Reserve line to celebrate his father.

The Russell’s rely on a famously consistent foundation. Every drop of their bourbon distillate starts exactly the same: a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley, the same yeast strain for the last 60 years, water from the KY river and a #4 "alligator" char on every American white oak barrel. All distillate enters at a low barrel entry proof of 115.

Because of this rigid consistency, the clear spirit going into the wood on day one is always identical. So, how can one finished bottle taste of sweet vanilla and cherry, while another tastes of rich leather and dark tobacco?

That was the mystery we set out to bottle.

The Reserves isn't just a limited-edition drop; it will be an interactive tasting experiment through a collective series of batches we will drop.

Side-by-side, the glasses look and taste remarkably different, yet they share the exact same origin. With The Reserves, Allocated isn’t just releasing rare single barrels; we’ve bottled a history lesson, proving that while the distiller crafts the spirit, it is the quiet, solitary barrel that truly writes the story.

TASTINGS

~10 seats left for our Glen Grant Garden Tasting! See our events page HERE. This is really one not to miss as we are doing a vertical from 12 year all the way to 25 year. We don’t talk about value when we talk about our tastings, but trust us when we say, if you’re even curious about Scotch whiskey, this is the event to be at ;)
